Rehearsing for the premiere of “Moon” at Taipei International New Music Festival (Aug.’22) 臺北國際現代音樂節將首演的《月》之排練（2022.8）

Last week I had some very rewarding and useful online rehearsals with the four players who will premiere my piece Moon in October, as part of the Taipei International New Music Festival.  The festival is administered by ISCM Taiwan, and Moon was selected by the jury in a call for works last year.  It’s exciting to hear how the piece sounds, and I’m pleased to say I judged the sounds quite accurately, with the difference that the players are so good, it all sounds even better than my inner ear imagined.

The four superb players are:

Chun-hao Ku (alto sax)

Xiao Yi-Fei (zhonghu)

Yu-Ying Chang (marimba doubling vibraphone)

Jing Mu Kuo (guzheng)

上週，我與四位演奏家進行了一些非常有益和有用的遠距排練，他們作為台北國際現代樂節的一部分，將於 10 月首演我的作品《月》。 該藝術節由中華民國現代音樂協會（即ISCM的台灣分支）主辦，Moon 在去年的作品徵曲中被評審選上。 聽到這首曲子的聲音很令人興奮，我很高興地說我對聲音的判斷蠻準確，不同的是演奏者非常好，這一切聽起來都比我內耳想像的還要好。
