generated on July 20th 2026, 09:02:53 PM) -->\n<p>The young, adventurous and talented Highfield Ensemble recently made a fantastic recording of my choral setting of a passage from Whitman&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Song of Myself.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>Sadly I couldn&#8217;t be there myself, but they were so sensitive to the score and detailed in their interpretation, that they didn&#8217;t seem to need my personal input at all.\u00a0 I can&#8217;t wait to hear them do it live one day!\u00a0 They did the recording in the beautiful St Mary&#8217;s Church, Stoke Newington.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I believe in you my soul&#8230;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Loafe with me on the grass, loose the stop from your throat, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Not words, not music or rhyme I want, not custom or lecture, not <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>even the best, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Only the lull I like, the hum of your valved voice.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I mind how once we lay such a transparent summer morning, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>How you settled your head athwart my hips and gently turn&#8217;d over upon me, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And parted the shirt from my bosom-bone, and plunged your tongue <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>to my bare-stript heart, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And reach&#8217;d till you felt my beard, and reach&#8217;d till you held my feet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Swiftly arose and spread ar<\/strong><strong>ound me the peace and knowledge that pass\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>all the argument of the earth, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And I know that the hand of God is the promise of my own, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And I know that the spirit of God is the brother of my own, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And that all the men ever born are also my brothers, and the women <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>my sisters and lovers, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And that a kelson of the creation is love, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And limitless are leaves stiff or drooping in the fields, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And brown ants in the little wells beneath them, <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>And mossy scabs of the worm fence, heap&#8217;d stones, elder, mullein and <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>poke-weed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>(Walt W<\/strong><strong>hitman, <em>Song of
