Conservatory of Music: coaching and rehearsing this piece was a transformative learning experience for the thirteen students that premiered the piece.\u00a0 I personally invested 60 or more hours in rehearsing\u00a0<em>Mosaic<\/em>, from one-to-one coaching, to sectionals and full rehearsals.\u00a0 I firmly believe that we as teachers\/musicians sometimes should not judge the value of our work on the basis of the performance that results: behind that performance is a lot of learning and growing on the part of the students involved.\u00a0 This is a far from ideal performance, but I put it up \u4fc3\u4f7f\u6211\u521b\u4f5c\u8fd9\u90e8\u4f5c\u54c1\u7684\u5ff5\u5934\u662f\u5728\u4e0e\u82f1\u56fd\u4f5c\u66f2\u5bb6Tom Green\u8ba8\u8bba\u7531\u4f5c\u66f2\u5bb6Thomas Ades\u5728\u521b\u4f5c\u4e2d\u4f7f\u7528\u7684\u4e00\u7ec4\u8457\u540d\u7684\u548c\u58f0\u5bf9\u4f4d\u91cd\u590d\u5f62\u5f0f\u800c\u840c\u751f\u7684\u3002 \u5728\u6b64\u4e4b\u540e\uff0c\u6211\u5f00\u59cb\u7814\u7a76\u8fd9\u7ec4\u91cd\u590d\u7684\u548c\u58f0\u5bf9\u4f4d\u8fdb\u884c\uff0c\u5bf9\u5b83\u5176\u4e2d\u9690\u542b\u7684\u53ef\u4ee5\u63a7\u5236\u6574\u90e8\u4f5c\u54c1\u7684\u529f\u80fd\u610f\u4e49\u7740\u5b9e\u7740\u8ff7\u3002\u8fd9\u90e8\u4f5c\u54c1\u7684\u521b\u4f5c\u540c\u65f6\u4e5f\u662f\u5bf9\u53d8\u901f\u7ed3\u6784\u7684\u63a2\u7d22\uff0c\u4e5f\u5c31\u662f\u8bf4\u5728\u97f3\u4e50\u4e2d\u6bcf\u90e8\u5206\u7ed3\u6784\u4ee5\u901f\u5ea6\u53d8\u5316\u7684\u65b9\u5f0f\u5212\u5206\u6bd4\u4f8b\u3002\u5177\u4f53\u6765\u770b\uff1a \u4f5c\u54c1\u7684\u524d\u56db\u4e2a\u90e8\u5206\u5728\u901f\u5ea6\u4e0a\u5448\u73b0\u51fa\u4e0d\u65ad\u4e0a\u5347\u7684\u72b6\u6001\uff0c\u5230\u4f5c\u54c1\u9ad8\u6f6e\u90e8\u5206\u7684\u901f\u5ea6\u662f\u5f00\u59cb\u5904\u7684\u4e09\u500d\uff0c\u800c\u5728\u4f5c\u54c1\u5c3e\u90e8\uff0c\u901a\u8fc7\u97f3\u503c\u7f29\u5c0f\u4e09\u500d\u7684\u65b9\u5f0f\uff0c\u8fc5\u901f\u56de\u843d\u5230\u4e50\u66f2\u5f00\u59cb\u5904\u7684\u901f\u5ea6\u3002<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>George Holloway\uff08Mosaic\uff09<\/p>\n<p>I begun <em>Mosaic <\/em>in Summer 2016 and completed it in April 2017.\u00a0 It was prompted by a discussion with English composer Tom Green, who introduced me to a repeating contrapuntal-harmonic formula famously used by Thomas Ades.\u00a0 I began exploring the formula myself, fascinated by its possible function as the underlying syntactic principle of an entire piece.\u00a0 It is also an exploration in tempo modulation (where precise ratios govern the relationships between different tempi in the music).\u00a0 The first four sections incrementally increase in tempo, reaching at the climax a tempo three times that of the opening, before in the final section returning, via a divison of three, to the original tempo (and
