George Holloway is assistant professor in the department of ethnomusicology<\/a> at Nanhua University<\/a>, Taiwan. He was formerly Dean of Composition at Tianjin Conservatory of Music in China, the first Westerner to be head of department in a Chinese conservatory. George has also taught at the Central Conservatory of Music (Beijing), the University of Southampton, and Qingshui High School in Taichung.<\/p>\n George studied\u00a0Classics at Oxford University, where he held both instrumental and choral scholarships, and studied composition with Robert Saxton. He completed both an MMus (Distinction) and a PhD (Richard Newitt Scholarship recipient) in composition at the\u00a0University of Southampton, supervised by Michael Finnissy.\u00a0\u00a0As recipient of a Chinese Government Scholarship, George studied conducting at the Central Conservatory of Music from 2012-14.<\/p>\n George is a member of the Phasma Music Composers’ Club.<\/p>\n \u82f1\u570b\u4f5c\u66f2\u5bb6\u548c\u6307\u63ee\u5bb6<\/span><\/span>\uff0c\u73fe\u4efb\u5357\u83ef\u5927\u5b78\u6c11\u65cf\u97f3\u6a02\u5b78\u7cfb\u7684\u5c08\u4efb\u52a9\u7406\u6559\u6388\u3002\u5f9e<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>2015<\/span><\/span>\u5e74\u81f3<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>2018<\/span><\/span>\u5e74\u64d4\u4efb\u5929\u6d25\u97f3\u6a02\u5b78\u9662\u4f5c\u66f2\u7cfb\u7cfb\u4e3b\u4efb\u3002<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>2001<\/span><\/span>\u5e74\uff0c\u5728\u725b\u6d25\u5927\u5b78\u5b78\u7fd2\u53e4\u6587\uff08\u62c9\u4e01\u6587\uff0c\u5e0c\u81d8\u6587\uff0c\u54f2\u5b78\uff09\uff0c\u4ee5\u69ae\u8000\u5b78\u58eb\u5b78\u4f4d\u7562\u696d\uff0c\u540c\u6642\u70ba\u8072\u6a02\u53ca\u5668\u6a02\u5169\u500b\u734e\u5b78\u91d1\u7684\u7372\u5f97\u8005\u3002<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>2012<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u5e74\u65bc<\/span><\/span>\u82f1\u570b\u5357\u5b89\u666e\u6566\u5927\u5b78\u53d6\u5f97\u535a\u58eb\u5b78\u4f4d\uff0c\u5e2b\u5f9e\u4f5c\u66f2\u5bb6<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Michael Finnissy<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u3002<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>2013<\/span><\/span>\u5e74\u81f3<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>2014<\/span><\/span>\u5e74\u5728\u4e2d\u592e\u97f3\u6a02\u5b78\u9662\u6307\u63ee\u7cfb\u70ba\u9ad8\u7d1a\u9032\u4fee\u751f\uff0c\u5e2b\u5f9e\u9673\u7433\u6559\u6388\u3002<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n George Holloway’s music is rooted in the modernist tradition of Western art music, with specific affinities to New Complexity and British experimentalism. Parallel to these affinities, Holloway’s music also draws deeply upon the Anglican choral tradition and, increasingly over the last decade, to traditional musics of China and Taiwan.
